Throwback Thursday

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! Hope you have an awesome New Year ahead of you all.

For today's Throwback Thursday I wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the series that got me interested in paranormal reading!

Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series is another of my all time favorite series. The series follows 3 children, 2 brothers and a sister, on their quest through Cornwall following a map to the Holy Grail and other adventures. This series captured my heart and has not let go.

This would be appropriate for an YA reader and is a lot of fun to read as a family as well. So if you are trying to get your young one interested in reading, want to fondly remember the first time you read it, or share it by reading it out loud as a family then The Dark is Rising series is for you.

What book/series do you remember reading when you were younger that captured your heart or was read to you that you want to share?

Waiting on Wednesday

Hello All,
It's Wednesday again and that means its time to introduce the next book that I am super excited to be released.

This week I am anxiously awaiting Shannon Mayer's Windburn. In the previous book of her Elemental series Larkspur is in the Pit fighting to free Ash from prison, learning new things about herself, and making new friends.

With each book containing bits of the previous it is best to start from the first book Recurve. If you start now with the first 3 books then you will be caught up just in time for the release of the 4th book, Windburn, on February 2, 2016.

I can't wait for this books release! Let me know what book you are looking forward to and a little bit about it or the series.

Just One More Chapter...

Hello All. I was recently contacted by an author who wanted me to review her book, it looked interesting so I said sure why not! Let me tell you, this book is so much fun! I love all of the Greek Mythology that was incorporated, especially a lesser known myth like the Sphinx. I about 2/3 the way through the book and I just can't seem to put it down.

Now what is the name of this book one might ask? Well, let me tell you. It is called Curse of the Sphinx by Raye Wagner. I am looking forward to finishing this book and digging into the next one!

What book are you currently reading that you can't seem to put down or walk away from for too long? I want to know.

Book Boyfriend of the Week

Hello All, sorry for missing a couple of days, but I hope you guys had as awesome of a holiday as I did. I got to spend time with family and friends and eat amazing food! It also didn't hurt that I got a couple of new books that I get to read ;)

This week's boyfriend comes from one of my most recent reads House of Ravens by Karpov Kinrade. I loved this book and really the whole series so far. My "boyfriend's" name is Kai, the oldest Prince of the House of Ravens. His description comes from Chapter 5. The first description is rather short, but I like the progression that is made in his character. "He doesn't smile or look at anyone, his posture that annoying mix of arrogant and bored...he's impressive with those royal purple eyes, strong jaw, tan skin, and shock of messy black hair. He looks fit, healthy, like he knows how to use that gleaming sword hanging at his hip".

What books are you currently reading where you want one of the characters to be your "book boyfriend"? Let me know!

Throwback Thursday

Well today is for another of my favorite series of all time. HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this series and it has gotten many people interested in reading, so I can see nothing wrong with that.

My only sad thing about this is that I can not currently find my Harry Potter series in my house. I think it is in storage :( I will have to hunt it down and read it again soon (for like the 100th time). Until then I will just have to settle for watching the movies with my son and getting him into this epic story as much as I do. He already asks me to watch the "wizard movies" when we have movie & cuddles days.

Tell me about some of your favorite series and if you are introducing them to the next generation yet.

Waiting on Wednesday

I'm going to start by saying that I didn't come up with all of these names myself. I actually got this one from a blogger starting site. A few of the others I came up with, except for Throwback Thursday, that is just something that has been used many times.

Today's Waiting on Wednesday some people can probably guess based on previous posts this week, but I am super excited for Vera Nazarian's new book Win.

I am very happy that even though the book doesn't come until Feb 14, 2016, Vera is releasing a couple of chapters a month of the new book to keep us addicts in our fix. Right now I am all about this series.

There are more books that I am waiting on that will be introduced in coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Just One More Chapter...

So today I am not doing much reading, well much of anything actually :) I have been vegging on my couch watching YouTube videos and coloring Christmas pictures with my son.

I am actually in between books right now, I recently finished Court of Nightfall by Karpov Kinrade and will be starting the next in the series, House of Ravens. I have read these books before, but I am looking forward to re-reading the extended version and doing reviews on them for all of you.

My most recent one more chapter book was Shannon Mayer's Blood of the Lost. I was not able to put it down the entire time I was reading it. I absolutely loved that book, but if you have not read it yet, or are going to be re-reading it, bring along a box of Kleenex. You Will NEED Them.

The ending to the Rylee Adamson novels was one that I was not expecting, but was surprisingly okay with. If you have not read this series I would recommend it for just about anyone who is interested in YA Paranormal and Urban Fantasy. The series starts with Priceless and is absolutely amazing!

Happy Holidays everyone, let me know of your recent Just One More Chapter...

Book Boyfriend of the Week

I am absolutely obsessed with the Atlantis Grail Series by Vera Nazarian. So this week's book boyfriend would have to Aeson "Kass" Kassiopei.

When Kass is first described you only start to get a picture of who he is. (Description taken from Chapter 8 of Qualify when Command Pilot Aeson Kass is introduced):

He has an overwhelming presence even if there are Atlantean's who are larger than him. Kass has light bronze skin, striking chiseled features. He has longish golden hair, of a washed-out metallic hue that seems a shade lighter than the others. He is an older teen. His expression is a perfect blank mask, hard and impassive. His eyes framed by dark brows and a find tracing of kohl, are fierce blue lapis. his lips are held in a tight slightly disdainful smile.

The grey uniform sits well on his toned body, compact, muscular. And yes, it must be said, there is something about him overall-- maybe the confident way he stands, the way he holds himself-- that makes him strangely, undeniably hot.

The crush that Gwenevere, aka Gwen or Gee Four, has on Kass plays out in interesting ways, including on her long-time crush from her hometown.

Saturday

So, it's Saturday now, but I have no clue as to what the theme of the day should be. If you have any suggestions I would be more than happy to look them over.

As for the rest of the day, I will be cleaning my house today, possibly reading the next book in the Nightfall series, House of Ravens, and babysitting my friends kids. I have a lot of books that I need to read, but if there is something you want me to read and review just let me know and I will put it in my rotation.

Happy weekend everyone :)

What Am I Reading Today?

I am about 1/2 way through the new extended version of Court of Nightfall getting ready to review it. I loved the first version of the story, but I will have to say I am starting to feel a little jealous of the people who will be introduced to Nightfall's world through this new edition. They will get the story in all of its amazing glory with all of the new content making the text come to life.

I am happy that I am getting the chance to read this new extended version and would encourage anyone, even if you read the previous version of the story, to start over because it is well worth the time.

Throwback Thursday

Well since today is actually Thursday, and not Friday (a girl can dream, right?), I will do my first Throwback as well today.

For me reading has always been something I excelled at. I actually skipped 4th Grade because my reading level was way above where it should have been. I was reading at a 12th Grade level back then! I was reading anything that I could get my hands on. But my favorite series has to be the Nancy Drew Mysteries by Carolyne Keene.

This was my first set of "big girl" books and I absolutely loved them. First, the main character is a female detective. Super surprising for the time period. Second, they are appropriate for just about all ages. Finally, I have always been interested in crime, mysteries, and criminal justice, so these books fit right up my alley.

What books got you interested in reading? What is your favorite series of all time?

Phone a Friend Friday!

Since today is the first day of my blog being live, I don't expect a lot of replies, but I figured I would start getting in the habit.

Today is Phone a Friend Friday. For those of you who haven't played (everybody today) today is the day you tell me what books I should read and why. I will start a list of all the books that get recommended and starting looking for them on sale.

Ready, Set, Go!
