Throwback Thursday

It was a little difficult to think of a book that was from 2008 or before that fit in with what I like to read. It took a couple of Google searches about books from that time frame and then I had it! Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. I loved this series!

Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way our of her league—but she wouldn’t want it any other way…

If you have never read this series, I would advise starting now :) Let me know some of your favorite older books in this weeks Throwback Thursday.

Waiting on Wednesday...

I just read The Lost and The Chosen by Ivy Asher and WOW! Vinna is a total badass! We meet her about to go into a fight against this mountain of a man and she totally kicks his ass. When Vinna turned 16 she received a set of markings that ran from head to toe and powers that went with them. Now she has to keep it all a secret, but that is difficult when you meet not 1, but 6 Chosen.

This book totally left me wanting more, but in the best way. I am super excited for the next book to come out. The back of the book says sometime in January. Here is to not so patiently waiting on wednesday!

As always, let me know what book you are waiting for! I always want more stuff to read

Review: The Code Series Box Set: A Reverse Harem Romance

The Code Series Box Set: A Reverse Harem Romance The Code Series Box Set: A Reverse Harem Romance by Bethany Jadin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ahhhhh this series!!

Emma, the MC, is intelligent, fun and has a huge heart. She is a programmer who has trust issues because she got screwed over by her past partner. This story is her journey from closed off and alone to open and having all the love she could ever want.

I could not out this series down! I started in the morning and I was done before bedtime! I may have read during work, ahhh don't tell ;) i definitely recommend this series to anyone looking forward to a fun, fast paced read.

Just One More Chapter...

So today I have been a bad girl 😈 I have not been able to put down this series! To the point that I was reading at work today, shhhh don't tell the students. The Code Series by Bethany Jadin is amazing. The relationship is not always easy and there are places throughout the series where everyone, including the MC has to work on something about themselves in order to make it work as a unit. I love that not everything comes easily because it makes it more real for me :) My own relationship has had rocky points and I don't always like the always perfect ones portrayed in books (honestly they seem kinda Stepford to me).

I started this series this morning and I am almost done with the entire thing! I can't wait to see what happens next because I have to read Just One More Chapter...

Tell me what your Just One More is for this week? I gotta have a new one, I'm almost done with this one.

A Case of the Monday's

Not all mysteries have to be serious. In fact, some of them can be down right hilarious! A Thrift Shop Murder by N.M. Howell & L.C. Hibbett is a book I found through an ARC opportunity and I was stoked to get a chance to share it with all of you :)

One witch with a grudge, three cats with a secret, and one vegan with a very big problem.
Priscilla "Price" Jones is down on her luck. First, her childhood sweetheart dumps her a month before their wedding so he can hook up with a model he met at one of his yogalates fitness studios. Then, her vegan smoothie store burns to the ground.

Out of work and out of love, Priscilla accepts the first job she can find, packs her bags, and takes the first bus from Portland to Salem, Oregon, to find her luck is even worse than she thought. Her new boss just died, and the old lady's thrift store, her apartment, and three huge male cats just got added to her long list of problems. But when Price opens one of the old lady's books and accidentally unleashes some witchy magic, she soon realizes her troubles have only just begun.

A hilariously witchy reverse harem mystery.

Hope you enjoy this Case of the Monday's... Share your favorite mystery or thriller with me

Thunder Thunder by Willow Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sexy, Steamy, Hilarious!

With this author, you should know what you are getting into. I could not pass up on a series called Big Dick Escort...I mean the name lends itself to sex and laughs for days. I was not disappointed. I can't wait to see what else Ms. Summers has in store for us

Review: Born in Fire

Born in Fire Born in Fire by K.F. Breene
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“I require a bounty hunter. Reagan Somerset. Send her to me. I’ll make it worth her while.”
After a botched mark, Reagan is looking for a way to make money, but is it worth it to work with vampires? She is strong and able to take care of herself, but everybody has secrets and there are some of hers that she doesn’t want to share. With an incentive of a huge payout, is it worth it with the risk of her biggest secret being revealed?
With the help of some unexpected allies, Reagan takes on witches, mages, vampires, and demons. Will she come out squeaky clean on the other end? Only time will tell, but as Reagan would say, Holy Sugar Tits, this is going to be a wild ride.
I would absolutely recommend this new series to anyone who is looking for a great book and a good laugh. K.F. Breene has done it again and I love the strong female leads she creates.

Review: House of Leights

House of Leights House of Leights by Jaymin Eve
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What's Not to Love?

From the beginning, I liked the main character Maya. She seemed the kind of person I would want to be friends with. Add in the shout out to other books and popular sayings, this book was a lot of fun and exciting. I can't wait to see what happens to make Xander eat his words with the next book and the final Secret Keeper.

Review: Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love Bundle

Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love Bundle Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love Bundle by Ariana Hawkes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun, light read. I liked the premise of the story and enjoyed the romance that wasn't too much.

One thing that could have made this a little bit better was a little more in the story development. There were perfect spots in each story where a little bit of conflict would have made the coming together of each couple a little more satisfying.

Overall, like I said it was a fun and light read, but in the future I would like to see more conflict.

Review: Arielle Rainbow

Arielle Rainbow Arielle Rainbow by Yumoyori Wilson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ahhh the Ending!

OMG, this book!!!!!! I freaking loved this story. Arielle, Phoenix-Harpy familiar, is on a mission. Her mistress, Celestia, is far away and she can't be reached. Magnor says she's fine, but Arielle wants to see with her own eyes.
After their reunion, Arielle starts another adventure, Sex 101. Lots of blushing, lots of moaning, and lots of fun.
What happens when everything is suddenly taken? We will have to wait to find out.

Review: One Thousand & One Lies

One Thousand & One Lies One Thousand & One Lies by Yumoyori Wilson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Could you commit 1000 lies?

I loved this story!!! This was new and refreshing. There are many stories out there that are very similar, but this one is one that I have never seen anywhere else. Xia is an amazing woman who is faced with an incredibly difficult decision. Go for what she wants it stay with the life she knows. The next mission could always spell disaster, but Xia is putting it all on the line.
Definitely recommend this series! Can't wait for the next one.

Review: Pain

Pain Pain by Jane Washington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Does it really have to end?

I loved this book, but am not ready to leave this world. Willa and the Abcurse brothers are getting ready for their final battle and it's gonna be a doozy. With all of the work that Harmon and Jane have put into this story, it's bittersweet for it to come to an end.
I absolutely loved this series and can't wait for what comes next next from these beautiful minds. I would definitely recommend this series to all people who like their heroines to be sassy and real with a backbone to match. She ruled those men and they all know it!

One Thousand and Two Lies One Thousand and Two Lies by Yumoyori Wilson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cried, but I still loved it!

What else is there to say? I was an emotional wreck because the situation struck home. I loved this story and was rooting for Xia the whole way through. She wasn't perfect and she struggled, which made her more real to me. I am super excited to see where this story goes and what challenges she will face with her men.
If you haven't read this series yet, I advise you don't wait. Start now! You will not be disappointed.

Book Boyfriend of the Week...

It has been a while since I have posted much, but I am wanting to get back to doing more on here. Between my little one, my substitute teaching job, and just plain life I have been really busy. So let's do this shit!

Recently I have joined a couple more ARC teams and have been reading a lot of Reverse Harem Romance #whychoose. I am still reading other stuff, this just happens to be what I am drawn to right now :)

So with this being said, my current Book Boyfriend is Ace from Yumoyori Wilson's Reapers of Beauty Series. Ace is described as having pink eyes. "He stands at 6'6" with shoulder length white hair. He has a slim build and likes wearing all black". He is an assassin with a lot of skills and the demeanor to back it up.

This series starts with the book One Thousand and One Lies. Ace is a little damaged, but so is Xia, the MC. The chemistry they share is out of this world, but getting through the thick wall that he has built around himself is a slow process. This series follows Xia, a girl who grew up in a world that made it hard for her to survive. Both of them have to learn to let their walls down, and when they do the result is explosive!

I am willing to share! Let me know who your current Book Boyfriend is and why maybe you will see him next week :)
