Throwback Thursday

It has been a while since I have read this series, but I loved it! I may have to go through it one more time. This week on Throwback Thursday I am talking about The Hunger Games!

This series has turned into a major franchise and I am not suprised. This book took us on a journey that we never expected. Katniss Everdeen is the person that many people wish they could be. If you are looking for your next great read, look no further.

Let me know what some of your older favorites are this week!

Throwback Thursday

It gets harder and harder every week to come up with something to post about from 10 years ago! My cousin recently introduced me to a series that started over 10 years ago that I thought I would share with you all :)

Lora Leigh's series A Novel of the Breeds starts with Megan's Mark. In the first book of her erotic new series, Lora Leigh invites you to an intriguing world where genetically altered Breeds and the humans who created them commingle—and sometimes cross the boundaries of desire…

Cursed with the extraordinary power to feel other peoples’ emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff’s deputy. She finds solace in the silence and heat of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realizes that the secrets from her past can’t stay buried forever. Someone is out for blood—her blood.
An arrogant Feline Breed, Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the mysterious murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with him can she let down her guard—and surrender to the insatiable hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the elusive killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey…

Let me know what you haven't thought about in a while, but love!

Throwback Thursday

It was a little difficult to think of a book that was from 2008 or before that fit in with what I like to read. It took a couple of Google searches about books from that time frame and then I had it! Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. I loved this series!

Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way our of her league—but she wouldn’t want it any other way…

If you have never read this series, I would advise starting now :) Let me know some of your favorite older books in this weeks Throwback Thursday.

Throwback Thursday

Good Morning!!
So as I was sitting down this morning trying to figure out what book I was going to write about today I started thinking about what books I am reading to my son. I am trying to get him to read some of the books that I liked as a child. I am sure that some of these will be familiar, but if there is one that I forgot you should add it in the comments so that I will always have something new to read to my son :)

1. Rainbow Fish
2. Anything Dr. Suess
3. Where the Wild Things Are
4. The Very Hungry Caterpillar
5. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?
6. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
7. Corduroy
8. Stellaluna
9. Strega Nona
10. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

Don't forget to share some of your favorites, or ones that you read to your children!

Throwback Thursday

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! Hope you have an awesome New Year ahead of you all.

For today's Throwback Thursday I wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the series that got me interested in paranormal reading!

Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series is another of my all time favorite series. The series follows 3 children, 2 brothers and a sister, on their quest through Cornwall following a map to the Holy Grail and other adventures. This series captured my heart and has not let go.

This would be appropriate for an YA reader and is a lot of fun to read as a family as well. So if you are trying to get your young one interested in reading, want to fondly remember the first time you read it, or share it by reading it out loud as a family then The Dark is Rising series is for you.

What book/series do you remember reading when you were younger that captured your heart or was read to you that you want to share?

Throwback Thursday

Well today is for another of my favorite series of all time. HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this series and it has gotten many people interested in reading, so I can see nothing wrong with that.

My only sad thing about this is that I can not currently find my Harry Potter series in my house. I think it is in storage :( I will have to hunt it down and read it again soon (for like the 100th time). Until then I will just have to settle for watching the movies with my son and getting him into this epic story as much as I do. He already asks me to watch the "wizard movies" when we have movie & cuddles days.

Tell me about some of your favorite series and if you are introducing them to the next generation yet.

Throwback Thursday

Well since today is actually Thursday, and not Friday (a girl can dream, right?), I will do my first Throwback as well today.

For me reading has always been something I excelled at. I actually skipped 4th Grade because my reading level was way above where it should have been. I was reading at a 12th Grade level back then! I was reading anything that I could get my hands on. But my favorite series has to be the Nancy Drew Mysteries by Carolyne Keene.

This was my first set of "big girl" books and I absolutely loved them. First, the main character is a female detective. Super surprising for the time period. Second, they are appropriate for just about all ages. Finally, I have always been interested in crime, mysteries, and criminal justice, so these books fit right up my alley.

What books got you interested in reading? What is your favorite series of all time?
